A FAMILIAR MEETING PLACE

Being architects and familiar with the designs of Frank L. Wright we find these ruins, which became constituent elements of Bosnia’s post war landscape intriguing. They seem like literal manifestations of Frank L. Wright’s design principles for homes > chimneys form the ceremonial centers of homes and are familiar meeting place. Unrendered, chimneys symbolize protection and constitute the only stable element in an otherwise liquid (interior) space.

Reconstruction programs like the Regional Housing Program should include communal fire places for an otherwise liquid social fabric.
